Take Your Time (Coming Home)

Take your time coming home
Hear the wheels as they roll
Let your lungs fill up with smoke
Forgive everyone
-FUN.
I was driving a friend home by the water towers, listening to FUN. and riding the social equivalent of a runners high. He asked if the water towers were the reason I always took the long way home. my response was that there is too much beauty in life to take shortcuts. I don’t know who I want to be, but that person takes their time coming home. they appreciate all the latent perfect joy that life brings. they hear the wheels as they roll. they probably do not let their lungs fill with smoke but they do forgive everyone.
That symbolism is part of why I dragged my trusty Pentax MX up to the water towers for what would ultimately be a mildly disappointing photo shoot. I went at night so I borrowed a light meter and hoped my mediocre fundamentals would be enough to pull to together.

I don’t hate any of the photos I took that night. in fact, I think most of them are pretty good, but I can definitely do better. I love how my silhouette mirrors the cross pattern on the water tower lights, and how close to centered I am. next time, I will find someone else to come up and model that same shot so I can set it up through the viewfinder.
I also think that the water towers would look good in color. maybe some Cinestill or Porta 800 next time?
If you have thoughts, let me know.
Appreciate something beautiful today.
